Reflection time

Lets have a look at the 3a data. This chart represents a study done in a 3-4 year old classroom recognizing how the children spend their day. Note that a large percentage of the child's day is spent devoted to child-led free choice and routine moments. Free choice is the perfect time to engage in Conversational Reading and Learning Games, while routines are ideal for Enriched Caregiving. This chart shows us we have plenty of time in a day to incorporate 3a intentionally into our practices; maximizing quality interactions, building relationships and providing a language rich environment for the children. Reflecting on our own practices, consider how many meaningful interactions the children have with you in a day?
